Abraham Smith

Senior Analyst for Western Hemisphere Affairs

Abraham M. Smith serves as a Senior Analyst for Western Hemisphere Affairs. Born and raised in Spain by US expatriates, he holds a PhD in History of Latin America and the Caribbean, with an emphasis on Cuba, from Howard University. He also received an MA in Public Administration from Troy State University, and a BA in Business and Spanish from Dillard University in New Orleans. Mr. Smith is fluent in Spanish and has a basic knowledge of Portuguese. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America, including Cuba for several extended stays while conducting research for his dissertation. Most recently, he was the NORTHCOM/SOUTHCOM Team Lead for US STRATCOM’s Foreign Media Analysis program.
